I was the lead content designer for two new undergraduate courses focused on geospatial technologies at the University of Arkansas. The first course was developed after the flipped classroom model, with lecture materials prerecorded and made available online for students to watch as homework. The second course was online only, focused on more advanced GIS proficiency in the ArcGIS software suite. Student feedback was overwhelming positive. The materials I helped develop are still in use, and are being included in a major new NSF grant ($890k) enhancing geospatial education in local community colleges, Opening Pathways to Employment through Nontraditional Geospatial Applications in Technical Education (OPEN-GATE).
